Usvitsky's artwork is almost exclusively process oriented. It's an addition process that subverts a synthetic, man-made material back into an organic form via soft sculpture. The piece becomes an object that looks otherworldly, yet familiar––a thing that feels as if it it could have grown and replicated on its own.
Katya is delving into conversations about the body, femininity, and the tension between heart and head, biology and technology.
She holds a BFA from Ohio University. Currently lives and works out of Los Angeles.
