The Latin American Art Market even today considers figures such as Frida and Siqueiros to be the Zenith of aesthetic representation; Idealizing a time in which Mexican art was all about murals and folkloric Kitsch. Not to take away anything from the "Maestros" but Mexican art today however forgotten gives the art world a run for its money.
Zona Maco for instance the leading Art Fair to emerge from Mexico City, brings together art from Mexico and the world in an aesthetic convergence that features Latin American art and its counterparts in an even level field. We no longer look at Frida (unlike the LA Art Fair that had a few on display by Angelino Artists) but instead transcend Latin American culture to showcase to the Art World what Contemporary Latin American art has to offer today.
